Anigilaje Christiana Omolola, popularly known as Lolachris, is building a career in Abuja’s real estate industry after entering the sector in 2023. She speaks about her journey, client relationships, property investment and her ambition to become a trusted name in Nigerian real estate.
When Anigilaje Christiana Omolola, popularly known as Lolachris, stepped into the real estate industry on July 10, 2023, she was driven by more than the prospect of making sales.
She wanted to build a career around business, investment and people while helping others make better financial decisions.
Three years on, the Business Administration and Management graduate of the Federal Polytechnic Bida, Niger State, is building her experience as a realtor and property advisor in Abuja.
Omolola, who also works as an Assistant Accountant and Business Development Executive with Standard Rank Properties Ltd., has developed interests in property sales, land acquisition and real estate investment.
But while the industry is often associated with commissions and property deals, she said her understanding of the profession has evolved considerably since she started.
“I chose real estate because I wanted a career where I could build something meaningful while helping other people build wealth,” she said.
From business interest to property
Omolola said her interest in real estate grew from her broader passion for business and investment.
She believed the property sector offered an opportunity to create long-term value while allowing her to interact with people from different backgrounds.
After venturing into the industry, she began learning about properties, locations, documentation and investment opportunities.
She also learned that guiding a client through a property decision requires more than knowing the price or location of a property.
For her, knowledge, communication and understanding a client’s objectives are equally important.
“What started as an interest has grown into a passion and a career I’m committed to building,” she said.
‘A realtor must earn trust’
One of the biggest lessons she said she has learnt is the importance of trust.
According to her, clients often commit substantial amounts of money to property purchases, making the realtor’s responsibility much greater than simply facilitating a transaction.
“When a client trusts me enough to invest their hard-earned money through my guidance, I understand the responsibility that comes with that trust,” she said.
She described seeing clients move from uncertainty to confidently owning property as some of the most rewarding experiences of her career.
Those experiences, she said, have encouraged her to spend more time educating prospective clients before they make investment decisions.
Beyond posting properties online
Omolola also challenged the perception that real estate is simply about posting pictures of properties online and waiting for buyers.
She said there is considerable work involved before a transaction is concluded.
“Real estate requires research, prospecting, negotiation, follow-up, market knowledge, relationship management and a lot of patience,” she said.
A realtor, according to her, must also understand the needs of each client and help them navigate what could be one of the most important financial decisions of their lives.
She believes this behind-the-scenes work is often overlooked by people outside the industry.
Putting clients first
Omolola said she does not want to be known merely as someone who sells properties.
Instead, she wants her professional identity to be associated with educating clients, providing advice and building genuine relationships.
Her approach involves understanding a client’s budget, investment goals and concerns before recommending a property.
She also places emphasis on transparency and effective communication.
“For me, a successful transaction isn’t just about closing today. It is about building trust that can lead to a long-term relationship and referrals,” she said.
Looking beyond the next deal
Based in Abuja, Omolola is looking to establish herself as a trusted professional in Nigeria’s real estate industry.
Her ambitions include helping more people secure genuine properties and make informed decisions about real estate investment.
She is also passionate about entrepreneurship, business development and building lasting relationships with clients.
Her goal, she said, is not simply to grow a list of completed transactions but to build a reputation that will stand the test of time.
If not real estate, what next?
Interestingly, Omolola believes she would still have ended up in the world of business even if she had not become a realtor.
She said her interests have always revolved around communicating with people, building relationships, solving problems and creating value.
Business development, investment and entrepreneurship would therefore have been natural alternatives.
“Real estate simply gave me the perfect platform to combine those interests,” she said.
For now, however, her focus remains firmly on property.
Having entered the industry in 2023, Lolachris is looking ahead with the ambition of becoming a recognised and trusted name in Nigerian real estate.
And for her, the journey is not just about selling property.
It is about earning trust, creating value and helping people take informed steps towards property ownership and financial growth.
